Cheap Romantic Getaways

Inexpensive Romantic Getaway Vacations
in Beautiful Minnesota Vacation Destinations

Cheap Romantic Getaways Are you looking for some great ideas for cheap romantic getaways in Minnesota? Inexpensive romantic getaway vacations may take a bit of creative planning and we're delighted to help you with that part. The rest is up to you!

First decide what type of atmosphere or environment creates a romantic mood for you and your partner. Some of the best ingredients for a "recipe for romance" are also the least expensive. Think about pleasing all of the senses...sight, taste, touch, smell, hearing...and you can begin to imagine what to provide for a cheap romantic getaway vacation that still meets all your need for romance.

Minnesota vacation packages are one way to save on the biggest items in your vacation budget.

Is a hotel room in your cheap romantic getaway budget?

An important part of any romantic getaway is just that...get away. If you want to book a hotel for an inexpensive romantic getaway, it might mean some compromise on location. While you can find hotel discounts even in the Twin Cities, you may find more budget-friendly romantic getaway lodging in our charming smaller towns and cities. Take some time, do your research, and you will most likely find a romantic vacation spot that is just right for the two of you.

Or consider a romantic campout for a really low-cost cheap romantic getaway. There is no more romantic region of Minnesota for a memorable camping trip than the Lake Superior area. We love the book, Camping the North Shore: A Guide to the 23 Best Campgrounds in Minnesota's Spectacular Lake Superior Region.

The beauty of nature is a feast for the senses. Consider the intimacy of a "just for the two of you" camping trip. Snuggling together in a sleeping bag in a tent is very romantic. Spend daytime hours together hiking, horseback riding, canoeing, or sitting by the campfire toasting marshmallows and watching the moon rise over the lake. Cuddle and talk in a lovely forest, by a babbling brook, among the wildflowers...for many of us, camping is the ultimate inexpensive romantic getaway!

Here are even more tips for inexpensive romantic getaways.

One of the best tips for cheap dates and cheap romantic getaways is to purchase an Entertainment Coupon Book. We give these as gifts, and purchase one for ourselves, every year. Just one coupon can pay you back for the price of the book and you will have hundreds to use on restaurant meals, take out food, clubs and entertainment, travel and even things like car washes. Enter your zip code for your city; it's that easy.

And more inexpensive than even a campout...a cheap romantic getaway in your own home!

Pretending to be a tourist in your own town is lots of fun. If you are like us, you often travel out of town for fun dates and romantic adventures while leaving some great spots close to home unexplored. With tighter budgets now, we're learning to think more about doing all the things we've never before taken the time to do in Minnesota. If you need ideas, here is our favorite website about Minnesota attractions and adventures.

The food of love is often...food.

If you book a hotel room for your romantic rendezvous, try to get one with a kitchen. If that is too expensive, try for one with a small refrigerator. If even that is not possible, plan to bring some food in a cooler. Not only will you be able to eat more cheaply than in restaurants, you can pack some special, romantic foods.

For a romantic camping trip you will, of course, bring all or most of the food for all your meals. A "stay at home" romantic getaway should also involve planning special meals.

Providing special foods and treats for your lover is a way of giving the pleasure of taste. Knowing what your loved one prefers indicates that you have been paying attention to their desires. While favorite foods vary greatly, there are some "standard" romantic indulgences to consider:

There are lots of foods that many believe are romantic enhancements on our list of aphrodisiacs...foods that put us in the mood for love.

Cheap romantic getaways can be just as much fun as romantic getaway vacations that cost much more. The goal of your time together is to enjoy each other. Focus on activities that bring pleasure to both of you. Show your partner how much you care about them by doing things that please them even if they are not your favorite activities.

Here are a few ideas to jumpstart your thinking about romantic activities:

  • The beach: Few people would argue with the sex appeal of sun, sand and surf. You'll find Minnesota lakes close by wherever you are. Have a picnic on the beach, lie in the sun, rub suntan lotion on each other, stay on the beach to watch the stars...
  • Can't afford souvenirs? Pick up pretty shells and rocks. Hunt for agates on the shores of Lake Superior. Take lots of photos of your time together.
  • Take a road trip. Stop at free musuems and tourist attractions. Tour a vineyard or brewery. If you can't afford restaurants, pack a picnic to take with you.
  • Go to a romantic movie.
  • There is lots of free music to enjoy in Minnesota. There are concerts in parks all summer and dozens of music cafes where you can enjoy a cappuchino and leave a tip in the tip jar for the musicians.
  • Go to a spa together. If that is more than you can afford, create your own spa experience at home, in your hotel room, or even in your tent. Give each other massages...learn the art of sensual massage before your getaway to add even more "spice."
  • Enjoy a hot tub. If a hot tub is not available, take a warm bath or shower together.
  • Light some candles and share the food you brought. Feed each other of course. Make it more fun by eating in your pajamas...or sexy lingerie.

Expect to enjoy yourself and each other during your cheap romantic getaway and that’s probably exactly what will happen.
