If you are like us, you often travel out of town for fun dates and romantic adventures while leaving some great spots close to home unexplored. With tighter budgets now, we're learning to think more about doing all the things we've never before taken the time to do in Minnesota. The food of love is often...food.

If you book a hotel room for your romantic rendezvous, try to get one with a kitchen. If that is too expensive, try for one with a small refrigerator. If even that is not possible, plan to bring some food in a cooler. Not only will you be able to eat more cheaply than in restaurants, you can pack some special, romantic foods.

For a romantic camping trip you will, of course, bring all or most of the food for all your meals. A "stay at home" romantic getaway should also involve planning special meals.

Providing special foods and treats for your lover is a way of giving the pleasure of taste. Knowing what your loved one prefers indicates that you have been paying attention to their desires. While favorite foods vary greatly, there are some "standard" romantic indulgences to consider:

• Go to a spa together. If that is more than you can afford, create your own spa experience at home, in your hotel room, or even in your tent. Give each other massages...learn the art of sensual massage before your getaway to add even more "spice."
• Enjoy a hot tub. If a hot tub is not available, take a warm bath or shower together.
• Light some candles and share the food you brought. Feed each other of course. Make it more fun by eating in your pajamas...or sexy lingerie.
