Northwest Minnesota bed and breakfast inns are a great place to stay while you explore Minnesota's Red River Valley.

There are fewer Minnesota bed and breakfast inns in this area of the state than in our other regions. Nevertheless, Northwestern Minnesota is a great place for a romantic getaway. Here are a few of the towns in the area, and some links to where to stay, where to eat and interesting things to do.

You are likely familiar with the Twin Cities in Minnesota but are not as likely to have explored our less well known "twin cities" whose sister cities are in North Dakota. Moorhead, MN/Fargo, ND and East Grand Forks, MN/Grand Forks, ND are the other pairings. When you visit any of these towns you get a 2-for-1 experience.

We don't have a bed & breakfast inn to recommend in Moorhead however we suggest Chez Susanne just across the Red River in Fargo, ND. From there you can explore and visit all of the attractions in both Moorhead, Minnesota and in Fargo, North Dakota.

Similarly the most highly recommended bed and breakfast in the East Grand Forks/Grand Forks area is the 511 Reeves just across the bridge from East Grand Forks, Minnesota. You can choose the best attractions in both cities during your stay in Grand Forks, North Dakota.

Northwest Minnesota bed and breakfast inns, resorts, cabins and hotels in both Park Rapids, Minnesota and Detroit Lakes, Minnesota are in some of northwest Minnesota's favorite romantic vacation spots. This is beautiful lake country. While not a bed and breakfast inn, The Lodge on the Lake, that sits on the shore of Detroit Lake, is one of the most popular romantic getaways in all of Minnesota.

The tiny town of New York Mills is just a short drive from Detroit Lakes. What has recently made this town a romantic destination is the Whistle Stop Bed & Breakfast Inn. These lovely restored railroad cars are attracting lots of couples and the reviews are great.

Northwest Minnesota Bed and Breakfast

Xanadu Island B&B Resort is another of Minnesota's unique bed and breakfast establishments. You will find peace and tranquility, exquisite breakfasts, the sounds of loons, lovely views from the deck, hot-tubbing, canoeing, boating, and creating memories together.

Fergus Falls has lovely cobblestone sidewalks along their main street plus the half-mile long Riverwalk that follows the river downtown. Both are great places to stroll hand in hand. Be sure to visit the restored 1921 Vaudville Theater, A Center For The Arts, where you can experience music, plays and movies...including silent movies to the accompaniment of the Mighty Wurlitzer pipe organ.
